On Wednesday, May 8, 2002 we met with Hart County Judge Executive Terry Shelton. We already knew what he was going to say before we went...His usual answer to EVERYTHING. He pretty much told us getting the building built would be no problem, but with our county's budget we couldn't afford to maintain it. He says the money just isn't there. What I'd like to know is where are all of our tax dollars going? He suggested we "educate the public" about the importance of spaying and neutering pets. I must agree that if it weren't for irresponsible pet owners there wouldn't be a need for the shelter, BUT I also feel like this was an attempt to discourage us to continue wanting a shelter. I, however am not discouraged one bit. If anything, this encounter has deepened my desire.
