The posting of petitions has been a bit more frustrating than we first anticipated. A few locations we went to wouldn't or couldn't allow us to post a petition. This was either due to being "government related" or against store policy. On the first day of posting, we visited 27 businesses in Munfordville. Next we went to Horse Cave. Here we posted several more petitions. We still have a few more places to post. So far I think we have three petitions completely filled. We will stop and check the progress on the other petitions at the beginning of next week. For the most part, people have been cooperative and supportive. I hope we continue to progress in this same fashion.

In the mean time we have contacted Terry Shelton again. He is suppost to get back with us to schedule a meeting.

We are continuing to post petitions. So far they have been quite a success. A petition at one popular location was filled within an hour of being posted. We are unsure at this time if the 2002 Kentucky Legislature will appropriate money towards the building of county animal shelters as they have in the past. We have two points of very good news also. First, there is a pretty good possibility we can get some land donated for the building site. Next, chores such as the cleaning of the shelter could be performed by people in the work-release program.

In our extensive research on this case we have discovered a few points which address our county officials negatively. Since we do not have our own shelter, our county pays Larue County to "dispose" of our unwanted animals. So why couldn't we use the money we're paying them to maintain our own shelter? We were devistated when we learned "Hart County Officials" chose to not apply for the shelter grants when they were previously available. The reason for this remains unknown.
